more 82 750 seca electric problems

well i got a new battery and have been riding it for a few days and it
still starts [ hope this doesn't jinx it]. it starts out o k sometimes
but usually with no lo beam. after a while the high beam and aux light
cut out but i can get them back on while i tip the bike to the left
and off to the right. after a while that doesn't work either. haven't
tried an exorcist yet. HELP!!!

Stop typing messages and get a meter and a flashlight and start LOOKING for
the problem.
The web cam that you have provided for US to look at is too grainy. ;-)

There is a wiring problem.....<gasp>
"WE" cannot really help YOU find it.
Good luck!

ELP!!!

Wiggle on the wires going from the headlight switch on the left
handlebar to see if there is a bad wire inside the plastic tubing.
Massage the tubing all the way from the switch to the headlight
bucket.

Also, the headlight switch might be corroded inside. There are
chemical cleaners like Deoxit (sp?) available, but I use Tarn-X, a
silverware tarnish remover found in supermarkets and drugstrores.

If you take your headlight switch apart, be careful not to lose any
little screws or break any parts, as you will have to find another
switch if that happens, the Yamahahahaha $tealer$hip doesn't have
stuff like that.

Had you considered the possibility of a loose wire ?
If you can't find and fix it, pay somebody who can.

Have you had a good look at the fuse box? Some old Yamahas have fuse
holders which turn totally brittle over time. Take out each fuse and
try to pinch the springs a little closer so the fuses fit tighter. If
the fuse holder breaks (quite likely), replace the fuse box.

good suggestions. i did try disconnecting all connectors cleaning ,
greasing, and reconnecting them.also got switches and controls from e
bay and will try that soon. loose fuse? wouldn't that be a hoot? never
would of thought of that.

Yeah, that's a good thing to check, but the fuse holder itself likes
to go bad. Common fix is to replace it with inline blade fuse
holders... in fact mine had already been done when I got the bike.

it was a rotor brush worn down to a nub.
thanks folks

A worn rotor brush caused an intermittant failure
of the low beam and later the high beam ????

And the problem got better when you tipped the
bike left and right ????

Re: more 82 750 seca electric problems

yep!!!
these things happen to someone who doesn't want to be a motorhead and
just wants to ride. oh well!! at least now all my wires and
connections have been well cared for.
i don't know what part the warm up played but i think there was enough
slop in the rotor that a hard lean to the left let it go to the
brush.lo beam was another problem [broken wire].
