Drain the old oil out and remove the fork springs with the bike
sitting on a plastic milk crate or
similar work stand so the forks won't collapse.
Pour enough oil into each fork tube to cover the top of the damper rod
piston which the fork spring normally sits on.
The two oil levels should be within one millimeter (0.04 inches) of
each other, after you've stroked the forks a few times to circulate
the oil in the area below the damper rod pistons.
That will give you the *minimum* oil level that your fork requires. If
you add more oil, this reduces the air volume above the damper rod and
increases the air spring effect.
The air spring effect is exponential, you get four times as much air
spring if you reduce the air volume above the damper piston by half.
