D3 Thwarts TSA Check Point And Gets The Shot!!

I got em this time! Damn TSA thought they weren't going to let me get a pic
of a high security checkpoint. Well, I fooled them and took a long distance
shot. I think one of the sentries was looking right at me, but I was far
enough to get away on foot. Homeland Security, what a waste of money!

Is there something wrong with your lens? I would've expected it to be
able to read some of the lettering on the collar. The whole image
looks soft to me.

And did you really need a 1000mm lens to sneak up on a beagle?

the longer the focal length, the less the depth of field. come on
folks. photo 101. With a 1000mm your DOF is like the thickness of a
piece of paper, until you stop down, and don't go below f/8 because of
diffraction artifacts.

It is plenty sharp where it needs to be. BTW, that collar is a shock
collar that is designed to jolt the dog if it goes outside of a
perimeter *fence*

Those are not...dog tags.

I didn't know that Beagles had ears on their asses. That's where the image
is sharpest. But, knowing "Rita"....

Yes it is a bit soft, but considering I shot this handheld at a distance of
almost 100 yards while walking, it is acceptable. Sadly adding a 2X TC into
the mix does slow AF down a bit and it doesn't do well for action sports or
quickly changing distances. I probably should have used manual focus on
this shot and walked into the focus sweet spot. Hey, it's a Usenet approved
shot. What else do you expect?

This one, yes!

And yet you say "this one has to be viewed full size to be awed by the
mystical properties of the D3".
So the D3 and those mystical Nikon lenses make images "acceptably" soft, or
is that only when you use them?
Frankly the photo is so ordinary, who cares how you shot it.

So by Rita's reckoning, the quality of the image is based on what you
are doing at the time and not by the image itself.

Interesting concept..... in future I won't chuck out what I think is
crap, instead I will give them to the client, charge them full price
and tell them that it's acceptable because I was getting blown at the
time.

lol !!!

Just as long as the customer is paying you give them what they want, not
what *YOU* want. They wouldn't care if you were getting blown at the time,
unless you blew your load too quickly. You don't suffer from premature
ejaculation, do you? No wonder you're so bitter, you didn't get your $5
worth. No wonder with that attitude of yours you failed miserably in life.

I set my *MY* standards and am not willing to lower them just because
someone else's are lower, even if they are the customer. There is
always a greater fool than thou and those willing to capitalise on it,
but if nobody made the effort to raise the bar then the world would be
full of shit and nothing else.

I have failed miserably in life have I? You know so much about me do
you? As usual you are full BS and are nothing but a trolling fool.
Yes I know... you claim that we are providing you with your
entertainment, but in reality you are too stupid to see that it is you
who is giving us the biggest laugh. bwahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

Hey, you can set *YOUR* perceived standards as high as you like, but the
customer ultimately is the one that makes the final determination. So,
ultimately you still are a failure with a product that doesn't sell no
matter how good you think it is. Haven't been selling much, Rusty?

Let's face it, you're living off of a faded memory of 25-years when back
then you had an average eye for composition and limited creativity. Get
with the times. You're a relic from the past that nobody wants to *blow*
the dust off of.

Relax, PP.
That is not the way to handle this kind of thing.
Just ignore it.
And please stop the crossposting of
every reply to aus.photo: it's bad enough

I like to learn about slang terms used in other countries. This is a
new one for me. I didn't know that "standards" is a slang term in Oz
for "knickers".
