Carnival to cut back on direct booking efforts

http :// www .modernagent,com /Resources/Editorial.aspx?nA889

According to this article, Carnival Cruise Line has announced that it has
cut back their direct booking department and will put more emphasis on
selling through travel agents. It seems they get lower costs and better
yields.

Imagine that!

There was a comment posted on the site that said that the poster
really like his PVP and didn't want to use a TA. Well, a PVP works
for the cruise line and won't bad mouth it. I won't (nor will George
or Ray or John or ...). But I will tell the truth. Carnival ships
are kind of guady. The mainstream cruise lines charge for booze, some
more than others. etc.

Oh, and those PVPs. Either Phillipines or Vietnam. And if you only
call once or twice a year, you may not notice that the name is the
same, but the voice has changed.

Hi Dillon,

This was a high turnover job and Carnival's CEO Micky Arison said they
had cut way back on their use of PVPs so the one he liked may not be
there when it is time to plan his next trip.

Best regards,
Ray
