Europe road trip: places to avoid car theft/vandalism

Hello, next summer I will buy a new Porsche and pick it up in Europe
and drive around for a few months. Great fun.

I'm requesting form the forum suggestions for places to avoid that
might be known for car theft or vandalism, places that aren't obvious.
My plan was to generally avoid cities, anyway.

The scope of my trip is simply "all" of Europe and I don't want it ruined.

Thanks, please post.

Avoid the UK unless you have a hungry rottweiler in the passenger seat.

There is left-hand traffic in the UK, which means a car from the Continent
has the steering wheel on the wrong side and is less likely to be stolen.

I would avoid the former East block or take a not-so-posh old rattletrap car
instead of a Porsche.

Excuse me. The steering wheel is on the left side, so it is on the right
side regardless of the car's location at any given time.

The expensive ones are stolen and shipped back to the RHD world.

Right, I would agree, but I have already travelled extensively in
Britain and this trip would actually be Continental, only (should've
mentioned that originally).

I figured as much about the East, but what do you figure regarding
Croatia and the Czech Republic?

Thanks very much!

There are more posh cars there than you'd imagine. The biggest danger in
Croatia - at least the northern half - is having an accident. The drivers
are suicidal.

Thanks for the tip.

Are there "car park wardens" hussling for protection money in Croatia?

But just as likely to be broken into.
The only car I had stolen was a German reg'd one in the UK. A lot of thefts
are to strip the car of its interior and trimmings, it hardly matters what
side the steering wheel is on.

I don't know of anywhere in western Europe (apart from the obvious inner-city
areas) where theft or vandalism is particularly likely.

You wouldn't want to park your car in Berlin-Kreuzberg on the 1st of May

Yes well that's what I meant by obvious inner-city areas. Equally I wouldn't
park a Porsche overnight in the Moss Side area of Manchester, UK.

I used to know a guy who parked his brand new Porsche in Moss Side every
night.

Mind you, you'd have to be clinically insane to want to vandalise anything
belonging to this particular person...

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Barbeques on fire by the chalets past the castle headland
I watched the gift shops glitter in the darkness off the Newborough gate
All these moments will be lost in time, like icecream on the beach
Time for tea.

I Google'd a little, and one site said that they are "fitted with
tourist registration or export plates". So I don't think it explicitly
says I'm American, but I don't know what they look like (no luck in
Google images).
