Child car seats rules in Italy

Child car seats rules in Italy

I've googled for the rules concerning child car seat laws in Italy and
have got a whole load of contradictory results...

Some say children under 12 must have a suitable seat. Some say they
don't have to if accompanied in the back by an adult. Some say it's
not age but whether they're under 1.5m. Some say the rules are the
same as the UK, ie they require a suitable seat if both under 12 and
under 1.35m.

Ours are both under 12 but over 1.35m, therefore don't require a seat
in the UK.

Does anyone know what the rules actually are in Italy?

TIA

No problem if they can correctly wear seat belts.
If not they need an extension.
The limits are 1,5 m OR 36 Kg.
If your childs are higher than 1,5 m OR heavier than 36 Kg, they need
nothing, otherwise they need an extension/seat.
The most recent law has no more upper age limit, but only height/size limit.

Ciao, Piero.

Grazie.

We'll take our booster cushions with us - the prices the hire car
companies charge is ridiculous!
