French City

Anyone have a suggestion for a funky little French city that I could
spend a few days in? We're traveling from Amsterdam on a budget, so
any suggestions on the cheapest way down would be appreciated too.
Thanks.

Lille, old center, some night life, good beer.

Amiens, nice cathedral, boating on waterways, Saint Leu old district,
Jules Vernes house

Arras, boves (underground caves used by the british during WWI), climb
the flemmish style steeple, Robespierre house now museum of craftmanship.

Re: French City

If he liked Amsterdam he'd be bored stiff in Arras for a few days.
What 's a funky town <?

Reims was an interesting place, sort of a miniature Paris but without
all the attractions, and it was cheap. . Verdun was even cheaper and we
spent our time touring the battlefields.
