I'm just not worthy to be in the same room as professional countryside
visitors.

No problem- NL is such a spacious sparsely populated country! :)

Did you read about Clarkeson posting his bank details in a newspaper
column, and then someone ripping him off by setting up a direct debit on
it?

Hilarious! :)

One problem is that a lot of newer headsets are very leaky- particularly
the ones with apple ipods I've noticed. Of course, if someone's
headphone noise bothers you, it's likely it's far too loud- a lot of
people listen to their music at dangerously loud levels- and given how
loud it can be, I think it's a fair assumption that many of them have
already damaged their hearing.

Newer? They've always been like that.

No they haven't.

They certainly haven't. Headsets I (and others) had in the 80s didn't
leak as much as they do now. There's been a definite problem in more
recent years, with things like the ipod headsets as one example.

I'm not convinced. I think there's just more of them around.

The leaky ipod headsets have been mentioned in various reviews I've read
of them, and there were obviously none of them around a decade ago.

Unfortunately, they're not going deaf fast enough for others to learn
from it.

You're probably right but people being loud with mobile phones here is
not as bad on trains (in regular 'non quiet coaches) as it used to be.
