JPEG files not opening

JPEG files not opening

OOPS don't see where I limit my lines to 72.....

I am working with another person, colecting old photos of our high school

We originally got a bunch of files with the extension FILE

Friend changed the extension to .jpg, using SAVE AS

She is sending them to me, zipped with FZ . After the first 2 FZ files,
I could not open the rest. She then sent me 2 files, .jpg, which I
could not open, using PSP5, Windows Fax and photo viewer, another Win.
program, and Adobe.

In Win Photo Viewer, instead of the photo, there is a white blank screen
with that little red X in the middle.

PSP 5 just says it can't open the file.

I am thinking that maybe the files are of a different structure than .jpg.

Is there a way you can tell what structure a file really is - even tho
its extension has been changed.

Any other suggestion as to what may be causing this? Or what we can do
to open these files?
