Well, at least it doesn't say how we earn $40,000 a year typing notes for
doctors at home! We'll keep that secret to ourselves.

The big secret is - learn the medical language, have a good ear for
accents, and type your ass off till your fingers bleed.

The end.

This is nothing with the use of voice recognition software, line count
will increase 200% for Example if you are paid 10 cent per line,
and you make 500 lines in 8 hours you will increse 200% by using
Dragon. you will be making 1500 lines just by dictating, it called
Echo dictation.

I have quite a bit of experience with Dragon and other speech recognition
programs.

The only reason I use them is to give my hands a break, because speech
recognition programs do *not* increase my productivity.

At best, my productivity with speech recognition is about equal to
keyboarding.

I have not figured how to use Dragon in the EMR of my major client. I tried
cutting and pasting into the EMR, but things like bold and underline did not
transfer, so I really can only use it for the other accounts I have which
are small.

If voice gains someone 200% efficiency, they must type very slowly! And of
course whoever wrote the post was also deficient in math!

There ya go, Ed and Barb C - must be the ones claiming 200% increase in
speed were hunt-and-peck typists. It really boggles my mind that with
Windows programs the underline, bold, etc., cannot be transferred. It
goes to show just who little those who invented these programs thought
about the end use. They can lie like rugs about what the products will
do and how they will increase efficiency. Then, the MTs are told they
will take pay cuts because they are going to be able to produce faster.
If they say they can't, they are not believed: After all that's the load
of BS sold to them by the salesmen.

Re: Easy to earn in Medical Transcription

Rae, in all fairness to Windows, the EMR I have to use has its own word
processor, and a lousy one. If the EMR used Word or Word Perfect, it might
be a different story. I don't know. I have tried to keyboard on my
computer and cut and paste because the delay using the client's software
drives me nuts as I type faster than the word processor will enter. So it's
not Dragon, but the software on the client's computer that does not
recognize the formatting. I really hate typing into the EMR in many ways,
but I've adapted, learned to slow down my typing. I can't afford to lose
the client. There are advantages to the EMR, too, but I wish I could
transcribe on my computer and cut and paste into the EMR.
