sick kitty scare

I just had two very scary days with Blue my siamese. Wednesday he ate
breakfast and threw up the wet food horribly, then drank a lot of water and
was pokey all day. No fever. Just pokey (no hairballs in vomit which is
unusual but if he's having trouble passing them it happens. He has them a
lot). This was an unusual large amount of vomit, however. He did not eat any
dinner. I went to bed about 12:30 he was still pokey. He must have eaten as
he threw up same amount (his dinner was gone). Next a.m. no eating at all
and just laid around. I was able to determine no fever and he let me rub and
press on the stomach and bowel area so I felt there was no blockage. He ate
nothing all day. Later that night he ate about five of his hairball treats.
I was prepared today to take him to the vet fearing dehydration (oh, I did
force water in him a bit on Thursday). Well, this morning he ate normal and
drank and "talked" like his usual self. I did remember finding a dead bee in
the kitchen on Wednesday. I notice he did not eat any of his "dry" food
until tonight and only very little like his mouth is sore. He is back to
eating and acting normal but it was a big scare. We think perhaps he got
stung somewhere that didn't swell or show or perhaps he got into something
that upset his stomach. He hates to be combed but I do it occasionally
anyway. He tends to take me for a walk around the house or I have to hold
him down to get it done and he has a thick coat.

I swear these guys can tear you apart with worry. I sat with him for about
two hours yesterday just petting him and rubbing his tummy. He is truly the
sweetest cat. I was so happy he was better today. His mouth looked fine when
I examined it yesterday but I didn't get a long look. Cody thought maybe he
just had a "bug" like we get but I don't know.

Pets can really scare the crap outta of us sometime! I hope kitty is on
the mend now.

Re: sick kitty scare

He seems to be but not 100% yet. But he's eating and drinking and "talking"
like normal but not quite up to 100% still not eating dry food like his
mouth is sore.

Re: sick kitty scare

Hope he's feeling better, Sue. Those critters can sure make you worry!
Poor kitty.

I have a dog who puffs up like a toad every so often, and I think I've
narrowed it down to ant stings. I wish he'd just leave them ALONE!!

Re: sick kitty scare

No kidding. He occasionally gets spider bites when he eats spiders and he
drools for 24 hours.
