Is there a program that lets you read Google Groups without using Google?

Is there a program that lets you read Google Groups without using Google?

I loved Agent. I hate Google Groups.

My ISP now has some kind of deal with Google and I have to read my
mail at gmail and use Google Groups to read newsgroups.

Is there a program, similar to Agent, that allows you to access Google
Groups to read and post?

If not, is there any way to configure GG to work like Agent? (I doubt
it, but it's worth asking.)

By the way, hi to everyone! I've been MIA for a while and now that I
want to come back, "they" have to make it a PITA.

Gmail can be read via POP access using just about any e-mail client
out there, AFAIK ... I read and replied to my Gmail via Thunderbird
and my ISP for a long time before recently moving over to using it on
the web only. If Agent can poll POP mail (I've not looked at Agent in
many years), you should be able to read and post to both Gmail and
Google Groups (provided you "subscribe" to what you choose to follow
in the way of groups).

Unless your ISP having "some kind of deal with Google" means that
they're not allowing you POP/download access to anything?

I use Scribera as do some others on this forum. The nice thing is it
pretty much filters out the spam for you, although once in a while one
gets through, easily identified. It also indicates new activity since
your last visit. I never can figure out how to do that in Google
Groups.

Here's a link you might try:

You can use XNews. Very easy to set up. Works well with any internet
service provider. I've used it forever and I think Jeannie uses it too.

Yep, I use it and LOVE it. Donna's the one who told me about it back when
I left AOL and needed to find a way to get here. Very easy to set up and
work with and hardly any problems at all!!!
