SMT Frequently Asked Questions

http :// www .mtexchange,com /smtfaq.htm

Updated once again.

Please take a look if you have a minute or interest and let me know if
you are able to add anything to what's missing.

AOLers: I've removed most of the AOL info because I'm somewhat
confused and no longer sure if we need separate AOL information. The
original sections on AOL were for when AOL restricted access to the
rest of the internet.

Thanks for updating the information, Julie.

I've been on AOL for 10 years and don't remember having restricted
access to the rest of the Internet. Was AOL that way before 1998? My
flying fingers started surfing the web immediately with no problems at
all, which is one reason I've stayed with AOL all these years.

Yes, I believe it predates 1998. AOL was completely proprietary - you
subscribed to their internet service and the only part of the 'net you
could see was that they let you see.
