Jody - RE Smartype

Jody

I think it was Melinda who said they'd have to pry it from her cold,
dead fingers, though I might have plagerized her. The answer is yes I
still use Smartype for DOS and I still transcribe in WP51 for DOS. So
far I've been fortunate to find work where I can just duplicate their
templates, then batch convert the files. Fortunately, since many now
save files individually by patient name with long file names, I wrote a
WP macro that calls a DOS batch file that renames the file
automatically. I can probably do it all faster than someone working
directly in Word because I only have to enter the demographic
information once from a menu, then the macro plugs it all into the
report. When I'm done typing it, I run another macro the shells out to
DOS prompt and renames the file. That's using Windows 98 (on my laptop).

Re: Jody - RE Smartype

Well God Bless you Rae!! LOL!! I CRIED when I had to give up DOS!!

So fast and NO Crashes!!! I am several computers since that day. People
just don't understand it when you tell them about ST!!! the Windows version
is very similar now, and it's pretty good, but you are right...I am sure you
are faster in DOS. It's really nice to still see all of you guys here!!
It's like a time warp or something!! LOL.
