thanks to all-RE: Gardasil

Hi All, thanks for your input. I feel the same way. Gardasil is too new, I
did not know how new, tho. All your thoughts are appreciated, and I'm not
letting her get the shots.

I just read a bunch more on it, studies, etc. 90% of all cases of HPV
are cleared by a person's own immune system. The main tool for
detecting a problem early and addressing it is still an annual Pap
smear. It also broke down the numbers of people who fall into that
category who die each year from cervical cancer - the majority of
which consist of women with no regular access to healthcare. Can't
quote it right now, but it was said "had not received a Pap smear in
the last 5 years." I also recently read an article in Reader's Digest
at an orthodontist's office a couple of weeks ago about the FDA, new
drugs, etc. One of the ways to protect yourself is to not become part
of the real-world trials/studies, which is what all new things become
once they approved for use in the general public - for at least 5
years. It was rather disturbing -- cited what happend to people who
took Ketek (killed their livers within 5 days) and how Ketek got to
market, who is now in federal prison, the life-cycle of products
gaining approval, etc. Really disturbing.
