Re: OT - Just what people need!Your mother's doctor is a little behind the times. My doctor calls it sugar
intolerance and says it is not uncommon. It often is a precursor to
diabetes. (Not the cause, but often should be considered a warning sign.)
If sugar were a new product it probably could not get approved! But the
sugar lobby takes care of that. There are claims that sugar is involved
with hypertension and heart disease. I don't believe in banning it, but I
think there should be more information out there.
People need to be aware of what they eat and how it affects them, and if
something causes a reaction, then eliminate it from your diet, but don't say
everyone else must eliminate it. Peanut butter, a perfectly natural product
(at least the kind I buy) that millions of kids grow up on, is a deadly
allergen to some people, but a really good food to others.
I believe people should have a choice, but it should be an "informed"
choice, as how else can you make an intelligent decision.
