Veneers to help with gum issues?

My daughter's dentist has recommended veneers. My daughter has had braces
and some mild flurosis (sp?) in the past. She has had her teeth bleached
also. My daughter's chief complaint is tender and bleeding gums.

How are veneers supposed to help with gum issues? Can anyone explain this
to me? I would think that better hygiene with flossing / water pik would
be much more beneficial for her gums.

Thanks,

Larry

Beats me. The veneers are generally used to address the cosmetic
issues. Make sure your daughter heard right--ask the dentist to explain.

Though it is impossible to diagnose anything over the internet
with precision, that sounds like gingivitis. Veneers would not
help this condition (and could even make it worse if the gingival
margins of the veneers are not very smooth).

Veneers would be to cover the fluorosis/decalcification and
give a better appearance.

PS: Mainly the brushing and flossing, water piks flush debri,
but are not good at removing plaque.

veneers help gums? probably not related. having any dental work
(crowns/bridges/veneers) can cause more gum problems if the edges
of the restoration are bad.

better hygiene, using a Rota-dent toothbrush and flossing are
going to be the best ways to go.
