Dear Bev and friends,

Subject: This is no longer a site about vision at all.

Enjoy,

I think the ads actually offer more benefit and less risk than your
posts, though, Otis.

I truly do.

The sheer quantity now is overwhelming and you can't filter them out all
that well in thunderbird. We can blow whistles in telemarketers' ears,
but there's really no way we can kill these bastards. Yeah, kill FOR
REAL. They're vandals for profit and really don't deserve to live.

I'm just not seeing the problem. Either I'm more tolerant or else my
ISP is filtering the spam. I suspect the latter.

In another group, some people are killing everything from Google Groups
(which not all newsreaders, including TB, can do easily), or just
everything with a gmail address (that pisses some people off). Here's
some google stuff:

Why don't we just start a whole new newsgroup?
And because people would still be coming here, we could post a daily
message: Sorry, sci.med.vision is currently under attack by
advertisers. Please go to... [link]. (A link to the new newsgroup).
What does anyone think of my idea?

Hi, this is my first message here.
What makes you think that the advertisers won't follow the good people
to the new newsgroup?

I've considered the possibility of that, but monitoring the 'pattern'
of these advertisers, it seems quite unlikely given that they only
appear to be pouncing on the main, bigger groups. Chances are the new
one (sci.med.vision2) would go unnoticed in their radar.

Or worse yet, Zetsu?

WhatsItsNameToday fails to understand that *it* is the main attacker of
this newsgroup. Most reputable vision folks have stopped posting here,
primarily because of the non-scientific *crap* that it posts.

I think that's a fine idea.

I think somebody did. I think it's called "alt.vision.wackos". It's a
perfect place for wacko^H^H^H^H^H atchoo^H^H^H^H^H^H Zetsu and Otis.

Go for it!

Dear Zetsu,

Subject: "Monitored" site

These "advertisements" will shut-down sci.med.vision.

These seems to be no choice but to set up a new site, monitored by
Bev.

If you are intersted in second-opinion methods (OBJECTION to the
minus lens -- and development of the preventive alternative) you
might click here and allow Alex to monitor the postings.

It is a broad scientific site -- and has an open mind towards
prevetive methods. (i.e., Bates, Prentice-Raphaelson)

* health.groups.yahoo . com /group/i-see/

It all depends on what you are looking for.

A SCIENTIFIC versus MEDICAL solution (in terms of
true-prevention -- not "cure")

Enjoy,

Nice of you to volunteer Bev's time like that.

My GOD, but you are an idiot.

Are you legally responsible for your own affairs, at this point?

Seriously.

I killfiled it, along with otis and rishi and a few others, long ago.
It can volunteer me for anything it wants to, I don't have to care!

BTW, moderated newsgroups are not a solution to the problem. They're a
bitch to add to the big-8 set carried by everyone, a pain to set up
hardware- and software-wise, and a bother to well-meaning souls who
don't understand how moderation works.

It's still possible to earn a meagre living by pushing a broom; if it
does it in a library it can probably get free internet access.

I'm less worried about these dolts than I am about the spammers who are
rapidly destroying usenet, the greatest means of exchanging information
known to man.
